This porch pirate is too cute to get angry.
A Bristol, Connecticut woman says a black bear pinched a packet of Amazon from its front porch, making it a fun place to entertain in the afternoon. This week he posted a video of the robbery on Facebook.
“Amazon had dropped the packages maybe five minutes before and I got the alert on my security camera and then I got a second alert five minutes later,” Kristin Levine told NBC Connecticut, saying she was “surprised why not I was waiting for anyone else on my way in. ”
The reward inside? Toilet paper, according to Levine. The furry thief seems uninterested in the contents: he later found the package in a neighbor’s garden.
“It was hysterical,” Levine told NBC Connecticut. “I knew nothing in there would be irreplaceable, so it was a fun afternoon for sure.”
In the clip, you can see the bear slowly descending down an entrance path with the Amazon box in its mouth.
The bear’s ears appear labeled, meaning it has already been in contact with wildlife authorities.
The bears are labeled as part of a project to investigate the Connecticut bear population, according to the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP), on its website.
Black bears exist in much of the state. In 2019, Connecticut people reported approximately 7,300 bear observations to DEEP. According to the agency, many homes are close to bone habitat, and animals often spend time in neighborhoods, where food is plentiful. People in these areas are encouraged to make their home less attractive to bears by eliminating accessible food sources such as open trash, bird feeders and grills.
