Canadian police are investigating after a television journalist was harassed by a man who threw a vulgar comment at him while filming a segment.
Krista Sharpe, a journalist for Canadian broadcaster CTV, was filming in the city of Kitchener, Ontario, when a driver shouted “fk in the py” out the car window before leaving quickly.
The journalist shared the images on Twitter on Monday, write: “That’s not fun and it’s not great.”
“As much as I would like to say that it doesn’t bother me, yes. It makes me feel like it’s not like that, ”he wrote.
Sharpe said the harassment was especially troubling, as she often works alone, adding, “This still happens to female reporters everywhere and has to stop.”
Waterloo regional police responded to Sharpe’s tweet, saying officers would be studying the matter.
“We are sorry to see this @KristajSharpe. It is completely unacceptable, “the department wrote.
Waterloo Regional Police Chief Bryan Larkin said the images, which have since been shared thousands of times, could be presented as evidence, the CBC reported.
“This incident is unacceptable, vulgar and offensive. No one should be subjected to hatred or bullying in the workplace. Larkin tweeted.
