JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A car crashed into the house on a Saturday morning in the Harborview neighborhood, next to Lem Turner Road.
“It was like a bomb exploded to be honest with you,” said a resident who lives at home with his family. He asked that his name not be published with this story. “A big bomb exploded and everything went everywhere.”
Pieces of concrete and debris could be seen all over the front and side of the property. The electrical wires were off and JEA had to cut off power and running water until they could be repaired. The family has set up a GoFundMe account to raise money to help you repair the house.
The man told News4Jax that a car traveling on Clyde Drive after midnight veered off the road and entered directly into his living room. Then there were four people inside. No one was injured.

“My family was scared,” he said.
“I was on the other side lying on the couch watching TV when I heard a big explosion,” the man said.
He said he nailed himself behind the couch, but recognized the sound.
Two and a half years ago, the family said, the same thing happened and just two weeks ago, another car broke into a different house in their neighborhood.

“I tried to get in touch with my councilor, but we need some sidewalks to protect them,” he said. “We could save a life or lose our lives to be honest with you. That’s why I’m here tonight. I ask the city of Jacksonville to do something about this curve. If you look out there, the city lights are on, but they’re dark and that’s a winding corner. “
City Hall has been listening to people about a request to address issues on Soutel Drive, on the corner of Clyde Drive, but residents in this area are concerned that the city may address the wrong issue.
