Police say fire in the intensive care unit of a government hospital in western India has killed ten babies
NEW DELHI – Early Saturday in the intensive care unit of a government hospital in western India a dead man exploded, police and news reported.
A preliminary investigation suggests the fire was caused by an electrical short circuit, police officer VS Chavan said.
The news agency Press Trust of India said the babies were between 1 and 3 months old.
Firefighters rescued seven babies from the newborn care unit at Bhandara Hospital, a city in the state of Maharashtra, nearly 1,000 kilometers (625 miles) south of New Delhi.
