A Dutchman went viral to skate on an icy canal while half-naked and went in after the ice cracked.
In a video seen almost 7 million times on Twitter on Tuesday morning, the unidentified man was wearing tight black shorts while gliding down the Keizersgracht canal in Amsterdam.
Suddenly, his feet sank under a section of cracked ice, turning him into a flying Dutchman as he fired forward, crashing into the rest.
Soon, not only did the ice spread, but so did those watching it, with the clip released Sunday capturing the audience making them laugh and making them laugh as they raised their heads to prove they were safe.
After initially looking stunned, the skater joked about his “face plant” and made a bow after another skater finally safely removed it on a thicker piece of ice.
A series of accidents recently led Prime Minister Mark Rutte to warn his nation, although he acknowledged that “skating on natural ice makes the hearts of many Dutch people beat faster”.
Rutte was especially concerned about people hospitalized during the pandemic, as well as putting themselves at risk by renouncing security protocols, the NL Times noted.
“Unfortunately, all these horrible coronavirus measures are applied to this gel. It’s not that the cold makes this virus less contagious, it certainly isn’t,” Rutte said. “So enjoy it wisely, keep your distance and stay at home when it is too busy. Follow all measures and, above all, prevent hospitals from being even busier due to all kinds of bone fractures. “
