An official delegation from Honduras traveled to Washington on Wednesday to meet with Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) officials to ensure the largest number of free covid-19 vaccines for the Central American country.
The mission is made up of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs, Lisandro Rosales; of General Coordination of Government, Carlos Madero, and of the Presidency, Ebal Díaz, has indicated the head of the Secretariat of Finance, Marc Midence, in a press appearance.
He noted that the official delegation will meet with the director of PAHO, Carissa Etienne, and other officials of that body to advocate for Honduras to be given “the maximum supply” of vaccines against the SARS-coronavirus. CoV- 2.

ACORDS AMB FARMACÈUTIQUES
Hondures, va afegir Midence, ha signat cinc acords de confidencialitat amb farmacèutiques per assegurar vacunes contra el coronavirus per al restant 80% de la població.
“Podem dir que el Govern no s’ha quedat amb els braços creuats, només esperant la donació de l’mecanisme Covax / Gavi“, Va explicar.
Des de mitjans de 2020, ha afegit, Hondures ha “entaulat converses amb diferents laboratoris i cases comercials internacionals, amb els quals s’han assolit avenços substancials” per a l’adquisició de la vacuna.
Els acords de confidencialitat i les cartes d’intencions enviades són els primers passos per tenir assegurada la quantitat de vacunes necessàries per a la població elegible, ha indicat.
“No podem donar el contingut d’aquests acords perquè és informació que es protegeix sota mecanismes especials”, va assenyalar Midence.
Les autoritats hondurenyes “no estem escatimant cap esforç, ni cap recurs. Això és prioritat número u”, va emfatitzar el funcionari, que va assegurar a més que Hondures ha enviat cartes d’intenció a farmacèutiques de Rússia i la Xina.
