A mass shooting at a home party in North Carolina killed three people and injured four more, marking the most recent in a series of deadly shots that have rocked the nation.
The Wilmington police department said it is investigating the shooting, which took place shortly after midnight on Friday night.
Police who responded to the scene discovered that “a shooting had broken out inside the house during a house party and seven people were shot dead.”
“Three of the seven have died. The remaining four victims are being cared for at New Hanover Regional Medical Center, ”the department added.
Police continue to notify relatives of the victims and confirmed to The Hill that they currently have no suspects in the shooting.
“Our heart goes out to all those affected by this senseless violence and we ask that anyone with information about this incident come forward so that we can find justice,” the department wrote on social media.
The North Carolina shooting is one of at least two that were reported only Saturday. Three people were also killed in Maryland in the early hours of Saturday morning after a shooting.
The shootings follow other incidents in recent days in California, Colorado and Georgia. Four people, including a 9-year-old girl, were killed Wednesday in Orange, California, and 10 people were killed in a mass shooting at a Boulder, Colorado supermarket.
Eight people died on March 16 in a mass shooting at spas in the Atlanta area. Six of the eight dead victims were women of Asian descent.
The Congressional Investigation Service defines mass shootings as incidents related to four or more victims.
