Sheriff’s officials say a man accused of killing four people in Missouri has been found dead in South Dakota

ELK POINT, SD – A man accused of killing four people in Missouri, including a mother and her 11-year-old daughter, has been found dead in South Dakota, according to sheriff’s officials.

JT McLean, 45, was found dead of a self-inflicted firearm Thursday morning in a car parked at a motel near the Dakota Dunes, Union County Sheriff Dan Limoges said. The U.S. Marshals Service says McLean had family in the area.

Deputies said investigators tracked McLean to the motel using the OnStar navigation system in a vehicle that stole one of the victims.

McLean was charged with two counts of first-degree murder for the deaths of his girlfriend, 43-year-old Allison Abitz, and his 11-year-old daughter, Jozee. His bodies were found Aug. 22 at his home in southern Columbia, Boone County.

Evidence indicates that Abitz was strangled and that her daughter was drowned in a bathtub, according to Boone County authorities.

Miller County Sheriff Louie Gregoire said McLean was also suspected of killing Kaiser Daniel Stephan, 74, and Pamela Stephan, 64.

Deputies were sent to check on the couple’s well-being on Wednesday and found their bodies.
