A North Carolina woman receives a saline injection instead of the COVID-19 vaccine

MONROE, NC (WTVD) – A North Carolina woman and her husband received a saline injection instead of the COVID-19 vaccine.

He moved to a Walgreens in Union County.

“It’s questionable how this could happen,” Lisa Strawn said in an interview with WCCB.

Strawn and her husband were vaccinated on March 20, or so they thought.

Hours after receiving the vaccines, they received a call from Walgreens asking them to re-enter.

“They called us and told us we had to come back the next day that there had been confusion with our shot.”

Strawn said pharmacists obviously forgot to mix the vaccine with the saline solution.

It is still unclear how people can make a wrong injection.

Walgreens said he immediately contacted everyone affected by the mix and rescheduled the appointment with the vaccine.

The company said it is also investigating what happened and plans to review its own procedures to make sure it does not happen again.
