A sealed box of Pokémon cards sells for $ 408,000

As the great Nute Gunray once said, this escapes him.

How More and more people are realizing the value it once had Pokémon cards, more and more people are approaching opportunities to catch, if not all, at least once a card worth a ton of money.

Which probably explains why (via Polygon), at a recent auction, a sealed box of cards from the first edition of 1999 sold by $ 408,000.

This is one a lot of money, but as patrimony auctions points out in its description of the sale, the box will contain a first edition Charizard, and one of these earned $ 350,000 on its own. If this box contains one, it was a good investment. If not, well, if you spend hundreds of thousands of dollars on Pokémon cards, you will survive.

I remember I wrote about a first edition box that was sold at auction in 2018 for $ 56,000 and I thought it was crazyand this, for many reasons, only a few Pokémon-related- feels like 100 years ago.

Heritage Auctions filmed the bid if seeing someone spend $ 408,000 on some Pokémon cards is something you can bear to see.
