Miami – Florida Bank United announced that it severed ties with former President Donald Trump by closing two accounts held by the Republican and thus joining other banks that have done the same after the assault on the Capitol on January 6 perpetrated by some of his followers, media reported this Friday.
However, BankUnited, based in Miami Lakes (South Florida), did not detail that the closure was due to riots involving a group of “trumpeters” at the Congress headquarters in Washington, in which five people died , as if expressed by other banks.
“We no longer have any deposit relationship with him,” manifested BankUnited.
National media have reported the closure of other Trump accounts in the Professional Bank, also in Florida, a state that has been his official residence since 2019 and which he returned to stay last Wednesday when his four-year presidential term ended.
The Republican is facing a political trial, the second of his term, for his responsibility in the assault on the Capitol, which will possibly begin next Tuesday.
The capture of Capitol by Trump and Republican-driven “trumpeters” who have argued without proof that the election that gave President Joe Biden the winner was fraudulent has mobilized banks and other companies to sever ties with both .
Signature Bank, in New York, he even noted that he would not do business with lawmakers who had opposed certifying Democrat Biden’s presidential election.
Deutsche Bank, the most used bank in recent decades by Trump, has also noted that they will not do future business with the Republican after the Capitol assault.
This entity will not work in the future with either Trump or his company, although it will still maintain a relationship for years to come, as the tycoon’s company owes more than $ 300 million to the entity.
Deutsche Bank has been Trump’s main source of credit for two decades, and at least some of its executives have publicly criticized the assault on Congress.
