A 49-year-old man in Japan died last month after receiving a dose of COVID-19 vaccine from Moderna Inc., which was among the batches, which was later withdrawn from its local distributor, the ministry said on Monday. Health.

The 49-year-old man, allergic to buckwheat, received his second shot on August 11 and his death was confirmed the next morning, according to the ministry.
It was said that any causal relationship between his inoculation and death is unknown.
When announcing the withdrawal, Moderna and Takeda said: “Stainless steel is commonly used in heart valves, spare parts for joints and sutures and metal staples. As such, the injection of the particles identified in these batches into Japan is not expected to pose a greater medical risk.
The cause of death is still being investigated in all three cases.
