BOULDER, Colorado. – Days after the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) said thousands of people vaccinated at a Colorado Springs clinic should be vaccinated, some of those affected are worried about the possible implications of receiving additional doses .
“I don’t like being in that position where you expect someone to recognize what’s going on and give you the answers you’re looking for,” said Boulder resident Chris Nyce, who received his first dose of the Modern vaccine in March. at the health and wellness clinic of Dr. Moma to Colorado Springs.
CDPHE had authorized the clinic to offer vaccines against COVID-19, but on April 9 the state said these would be stopped while investigating.
On Tuesday, CDPHE said inadequate storage to Dr. Moma’s meant that about 4,000 people should be vaccinated.
The state guide says those who received a dose at the clinic should receive two additional doses. Those who received two doses at the clinic should receive an additional dose.
“I’m worried about getting that third shot because no one knows what happens if you have a third one,” Nyce said.
His concerns prompted him to contact the manufacturer, Moderna.
“Modern in the conversations I had with them she said,‘ We don’t recommend you take a third shot, ’Nyce said.
Denver7 turned to both CDPHE and Moderna for more clarity on the discrepancy, but they have yet to know.
The CDPHE press release states that they have consulted with the CDC to publish revaccination guidelines and, “Due to the lack of clinical data, the CDC does not recommend that people receive more than three doses of any COVID-19 vaccine, regardless of of its validity “.
Nyce said he is concerned that a third dose of vaccine could affect his ability to get a booster vaccine in the future.
On Thursday, Dr. David Kessler of the Biden Administration said the country should be prepared for vaccine promoters.
“Have they ever stopped us from having a booster shot because they tell us we’re taking a third shot? I don’t know,” Nyce said.
Denver7 will update this story with additional information when available.
