A WI pharmacist was arrested and admitted to ruining the coronavirus vaccine

A pharmacist at Wisconsin Hospital was fired for intentionally damaging hundreds of doses of the coronavirus vaccine by removing them from refrigeration overnight. He was arrested Thursday.

Police in Grafton, Wisc. – about 25 miles north of Milwaukee – confirmed the arrest, but did not immediately reveal the name of the suspect, as he has not yet been formally charged.

The suspect was arrested on suspicion of reckless danger, adulteration of prescription drugs and criminal damage to property.

Aurora Medical Center had fired the pharmacist on Wednesday after admitting to deliberately removing 57 vials of the Modern vaccine from a hospital refrigerator last week.

Each vial contains about 10 doses of the vaccine.

It is not yet clear what motivated the man to ruin the long-awaited vaccine.

Attorney Aurora Health Care, head of medical group Jeff Bahr, said during a press conference Thursday that the pharmacist removed the vials from cold storage overnight from Dec. 24 to Dec. 25, replacing them. and left them again during the night of the 25th to the 26th of December.

When a classmate discovered the jars sitting, the pharmacist initially played like an accident, saying he took them out of the fridge to access something else and then forgot to put them back on.

After further questioning, the pharmacist admitted that he intentionally removed the vaccines, hospital officials said.
