Aaron Rodgers of the Green Bay Packers donates $ 1 million to small businesses in his hometown of Chico, California

Aaron Rodgers ’philanthropic forms have amassed more than a million dollars donated to small local-owned businesses in his hometown, Chico, California, around his hometown, the North Valley Community Foundation announced Monday.

Green Bay Packers quarterback created small business fund COVID-19 last month Aaron Rodgers.

Nine of these businesses were personally notified by Rodgers and North Valley Community Foundation president / CEO Alexa Benson-Valavanis in video calls, which can be viewed on Rodgers’ Instagram account.

“Small, locally owned businesses are the heart and soul of a community,” Rodgers said in a statement. “In apps and videos, it was discouraging to hear about all the obstacles facing restaurants and commercial establishments. Many of them are struggling to stay in business, but they keep hoping this will end.”

Rodger, a native of Chico, who also began his college career there at Butte College before moving to Cal, began the fund with a $ 500,000 donation. He doubled it soon after. An additional $ 100,000 in donations was added.

Rodgers had previously donated $ 1 million to help Butte County recover from a wildfire in November 2018. Restaurants and retail businesses with 20 or fewer full-time equivalent employees could apply for assistance through the Rodgers background. Many restaurants, which are still unable to serve diners indoors, due to California restrictions, were among the 80 companies that have received grants from the fund.
