Green Bay Packers coach Matt Laflour campaigned that his quarterback was a favorite to win the NFL MVP after 14 weeks in 2020.
Aaron Rodgers, who has already won the award twice, threw three touchdown passes and ran to fourth when the Packers beat the Detroit Lions 31-24 on Sunday. The win won the NFC North title and sent the Packers to the top of the conference playoff stages.
Rodgers now has 39 touchdown passes and 41 total touchdowns in 13 games this season.
“In my mind there is no doubt, he’s a talented guy who should be the front runner for the MVP. I mean, he’s constantly doing it every time we’ve been out on that field. It gives you a lot of confidence that you’re going to show a win,” he said after Sunday’s win in Detroit. Laughlor said.
It appears to be a two-player race for the MVP between the 2018 winner Rodgers and Patrick Mahoms, who will have another terrific season for the 12-winner Kansas mayor.
Loughlor may be pro, but there is a strong case for Rodgers to be the front runner. He has been to the NFL in both touchdowns (39) and passer ratings (119.7). In fact, his numbers are seen more and more similar to his MVP season in 2011. With three more wins, the Packers will finish 13-3 in the second season in a row, earning the No. 1 seed in the NFC.
With 13 games, Rodgers has completed 69.6 percent of his pass and averaged 8.2 yards per attempt. He has 3,685 passing yards, 39 passing touchdowns and four interceptions. In 12 of 13 games, Rodgers has thrown several touchdown passes and completed a pass rating of 100.0 or higher.
Rodgers and the Packers travel to Chicago for the next two weeks to play prime time games against the Carolina Panthers and the Tennessee Titans, and then rival Pierce in the final.
