Aaron, the leader of the Mita Congregation, dies

The spiritual leader of the Congregation Mita, Inc., Teófilo Vargas sein (Aaron), has died tonight at the age of 99 after suffering from various health conditions, confirmed the vice president of the congregation, Rosinín Rodríguez Pérez.

Rodriguez Perez has stated that “our beloved Aaron died on January 18, 2021 at the age of 99, due to an extensive history of cardiovascular conditions. Until the last moment of his life, he remained accompanied by his loved ones and their team of doctors, who gave him all the love and the greatest care and attention. “

“Today our church celebrates the birth of Aaron into eternal life, rest in peace our beloved father and spiritual leader, Aaron,” Rodriguez Perez added.

For years, the religious leader faced a long legal battle to refuse to recognize his son Samuel Beníquez until he underwent a paternity test.

On the other hand, Aaron stood out as the spiritual leader of the Mita Congregation, Inc., after the death of Juanita García Peraza, founder of the congregation, the basis is Christianity. From 1940 he accompanied the person of Mita until his death in 1970. And when he became his successor he continued his legacy with the development and expansion of the Congregation in and out of Puerto Rico.

Under his leadership the Church expanded internationally in countries such as the Dominican Republic, Colombia, Mexico, Venezuela, Ecuador, Costa Rica, Panama, El Salvador, Canada, Spain, Italy, Chile, Peru and the United States. In addition, he created several social projects for the benefit of Puerto Rican society, such as the Mita Congregation College, the Aegis and Institution El Paradís, the Office of Guidance and Social Work of the Mita Congregation and The Brothers Memorial Park.
