Baní, RD.
The mayor of the city of Santiago, Abel Martínez, met in the municipality of Baní with municipal mayors and directors of district boards of the Valdesia Region, which include the provinces of Peravia, Ocoa and Azua, as well as local leaders of the Dominican Liberation Party (PLD), to which it presented its presidential project in the 2024 national elections.
Martínez said that launching his presidential proposal at such an early date only now seeks to strengthen the presence of his party in the consciousness of the population and carry the message of the great work of government carried out by the PLD.
He highlighted the progress in the governments of Danilo Medina, economic stability, the creation of the extended-shift school day, the 911 System, among other works.
He has similarly criticized that in its 20 years of government, the PLD distanced itself from society, mistakes that he assured will be corrected in this new route that transits “this organization from this IX Congress that is in the its final stage “.
He took advantage of the event to ask the government of President Luis Abinader for the allocation and delivery of more resources to the country’s councils, which he said are going through a very bad time in their administrations due to lack of financial resources and great commitments that these have in front of the municipality.
Martinez lashed out at the current government because in his opinion “they do not know how to govern” and set as an example agricultural producers of carrots, peppers, onions and others, who say they are giving away their crops because they have no market or fair prices , while instead the family basket skyrockets and the prices of construction industry items rise every day, as do fuels and others.
Abel Martínez was accompanied by members of the PLD Political Committee; former Hato Major senator Rubén Cruz; Rafael Hidalgo, former mayor of the city of Azua and former president of the Dominican Federation of Municipalities (FEDOMU) and members of the Central Committee, among other personalities.
Also present were Ramon Santos, president of the Dominican Federation of Municipal Districts (Fedodim); the mayoress of the Municipality of Matança, Susy Pérez; Yeison Guerrero, of Santana, among other directors of district boards of Baní, Ocoa and Azua, as well as councilors and members of the Valdesia Region and middle leaders of the PLD, among others.
