President Luis Abinader met yesterday with his Haitian counterpart, Jovenel Moise, to review the bilateral agenda on security, health, trade, migration, energy and the evolution of the political process in the brother country.
The president also said that in the coming days he will make public a statement of the agreements reached.

Haiti remains the second largest trading partner for the Dominican Republic, surpassed only by the United States, but relations have been affected in recent years by the impediments imposed by the neighboring government on many products that are exported from here, 1 issue to be resolved.

According to a note from the Presidency’s Communication Directorate, Abinader made the first visit to the border area, and descended at various points along the dividing line with Haiti.
The president arrived by helicopter in the area around 9:00 in the morning, right in the Carrizal community, Punt Bandera, Elías Pinya province, where the headquarters of the Army General Antonio Duvergé is.
