Abinader heads the tenth session of the National Competitiveness Council

The President of the Republic Luis Abinader will lead this Thursday the tenth ordinary session of the Plenary Session of the National Competitiveness Council, continuing with the elaboration of a national strategy to improve this area.

During the meeting the president stated that the state, together with the productive sectors and society, must have the vocation and commitment to drive the great changes that the country needs.

He also argued that only then will the Dominican Republic be able to become “An example for the world and a pride for all its citizens”.

Abinader also said he originally convened Board members, with the goal of presenting the importance of having a national competitiveness strategy, And to know the methodology that will be used to achieve it.

For this reason, it motivated the representatives of the Council who are part of the business community to support strategy construction, To participate in the work sessions for the definition of a proposal based on the work done with country brand.

He also explained that the strategy seeks to identify priority obstacles that limit the competitiveness of the country, which is why it is necessary to work with the different instances of the public and private sector to develop actions to overcome them.

In addition, the Head of State reported that the first action taken in the face of the elaboration of the National Competitiveness Strategy, is the articulation of a National Competitiveness Plan 2020-2024, for the prioritization of actions, measures and reforms identified from different participatory exercises of a public and private nature in recent years.

At the working session held in the Green Room of the National Palace, Peter Prazmowski, Director of the Council, presented the initiatives that have been carried out in the first 100 days of government management.

Prazmowski that the measures decisively and directly address most of the identified obstacles that limit the competitiveness and productivity of the country.

Similarly, the Director of the Council cited among the obstacles encountered institutionalization, education, market problems and labor issues.

On November 11, President Luis Abinader, through Decree 640-20, instructed the National Competitiveness Council to develop a National Competitiveness Strategy, which must be presented in the country on February 27, 2021.
