More than half a million electronic devices (tablets) were received by President Luis Abinader on Monday, which will be handed out to primary school students.
The president said that with this delivery the government reaffirms its political will to close the digital divide, one of the most important milestones in its management and thus ensures that the benefits of technology reach all people, without leaving anyone back.
The 537,432 tablets were procured through the global procurement mechanism of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) with an investment of RD $ 5,559,522,338.
Today we receive and deliver 537,432 tablets. Which represents 67% of the total committed which is 800,000 tablets.

He detailed that the centralized purchase through the United Nations central purchasing center allowed savings in the coffers of the Dominican State worth $ 18 million.

For the delivery of electronic devices, priority will be given to schools in the 48 municipalities that began face-to-face teaching and will then be distributed in the other centers.
The tablets remain in the warehouse of the Ministry of Education in Haina where a symbolic delivery was made to primary school students.
