About 30 homes flooded after the Monge River overflowed

Yoro, Honduras.

Alarmed are the inhabitants of the Les Lomitas sector in the municipality of Olanchito, Yoro, after registering floods due to the overflow of the Monge River.

About 30 homes in this place have been affected so far and members of the fire brigade have moved to the area to carry out evacuations.

According to residents, the river overflowed in the lower part due to the constant rains caused by the mass of cold air affecting the country.

“This colony was not flooded, but after Eta and Iota it has become one of the most vulnerable in the area,” one of the neighbors detailed.

According to Rolando Ruiz, a lieutenant in the Fire Department, the affected families were evacuated.

“Around 2:00 a.m. heavy rains fell in the area and caused the river level to rise and overflow down the lower part.”

Those affected were taken to a community center to safeguard their lives.

The 80 families in this colony must remain alert to the conditions left by this phenomenon in the country.

Roatan also records floods

In the community of Cane plantation a Roatan, Bay Islands floods are also recorded and the passage is interrupted.

Copeco reported that the rains will continue this Saturday in Columbus, Atlantis and Yoro so residents must be very careful.
