According to an official, an alleged drunk driver “eliminates the existence of a family” after mother and children die in a fire accident

KLEIN, Texas – Harris County Officer Mark Herman said Monday that an alleged drunk driver is responsible for an accident that killed a mother and two of her children on Sunday in a multi-vehicle accident in the Klein area.

Herman said the driver will be held responsible after he essentially “turned off (ed) a family out of existence.”

Herman said another child, a 2-year-old boy from the same family, has life support starting Monday at a Houston hospital.

The 7-vehicle crash happened Sunday night on FM 2920 and Gosling Road. Officials said several people were injured and several vehicles burned.

Another person from another vehicle was transported on the ground with non-life-threatening injuries, according to investigators.

The rest of the occupants involved had no injuries or did little and were attended to at the scene.

Herman said the vehicle of the suspected drunk driver hit the mother’s vehicle at high speed. The driver, who has not yet been identified, is expected to survive and has bruises and bruises due to the crash. Herman said he is expected to be charged with multiple counts of homicide by poisoning with the possibility of getting up-to-date charges, depending on the ongoing situation with the 2-year-old boy in hospital.

Announcements

The names of the family members who died have not been released, pending notification of the family.

Herman said the suspect’s alcohol content is the “main contributing factor” in this case. He said it was 1.5%. According to the Texas Department of Transportation, you will be legally intoxicated in Texas when your blood alcohol concentration reaches 0.08%.

“I really don’t want to put my personal thoughts into it because it wouldn’t be too pretty,” Herman said. “But professionally, I can tell you that law enforcement continues to fight the good fight against our disabled drivers (with DWI initiatives between the local sheriff and local agents).”
