Overall, I can be close to Instagram. The pressure to be “perfect” for the gram can make me roll my eyes or get bored (although yes, I’ve succumbed to that pressure before, I’m just human). One thing Instagram knows is what I like are cats, which often leads me to wonder: why are there no more cats in my food?
It looks like Instagram may be working on a feature that will allow me to fill my feed with more hairy joy. Depending on the mobile developer and leaker Alessandro Paluzzi, a possible future update would allow users to create a list of their “favorite” accounts. The accounts on this list would they appear more in a user’s feed, Paluzzi explained.
“Your favorite posts are shown above in the feed,” Instagram explains in a screenshot of the alleged update shared by Paluzzi. “We do not send notifications when you edit your favorites”.
In a June teller on how he ranks the feed and stories, Instagram boss Adam Mosseri said the company considers several factors. First, keep in mind the recent posts from the people you follow. Then, in order of importance, it takes into account things like the popularity of the publication and the format in which it is found; how many times you have interacted with the person who posted the content in recent weeks; how many posts you liked on Instagram; and your history of interactions with someone, among others.

After that, Instagram makes predictions about how likely you are to spend a few seconds in a post, comment on it, like it, save it, or touch the profile picture.
“The more likely you are to take an action and the more we weigh that action, the higher you will see the post,” Mosseri said.
The feed however, it could change with favorites. As a fan of many famous Instagram cats, I would dig into it. You can’t help but feel happy when you do see faces like this.
Gizmodo took to Instagram to comment on Friday, but received no response at the time of posting. We will make sure to update this blog if we receive news.
