AccuWeather Forecast for Philadelphia Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) – An ICE SEASON NOTICE has been broadcast for our counties in the far west of Pennsylvania from Monday evening until the first Tuesday morning. Significant ice formation is possible with an accumulation of half an inch of ice in the Lehigh Valley. Travel will be dangerous. The ice could be heavy enough to drop some branches and power lines.

Look for occasional rains and freezing rains today that can cause icy spots in some areas, especially in our northern and western suburbs. Otherwise, it is a cloudy and cold day with a maximum of only 34.

Tonight: Freezing rain arrives during the night before changing to rain later in the night near I-95. In our northwest suburbs (NW Bucks, Montgomery and Chester, Lehigh Valley, Berks County and the Poconos), the change to rain may not happen until late at night or Tuesday morning. Accumulation of ice on untreated surfaces will make things dangerous for drivers and pedestrians. Night lows will be around 30 and temperatures will rise towards dawn.

TUESDAY: There is likely to be some persistent icy rains in the morning in some northwest suburbs, especially in Lehigh Valley, Berks County and the Poconos, where travel could be dangerous at first. Further south, we will see direct rain at rush hour in the morning with eventual drying. The afternoon looks cloudy and smooth with a high of 46.

WEDNESDAY: We have a day off in the winter rainfall. Look for a mostly sunny day, colder but completely dry, with a maximum of 36.

THURSDAY: Mostly cloudy skies return with a period of snow and sleet in the morning gradually changing to rain. It will be possible to make several inches of snow before the change. The maximum is 37.

FRIDAY: Clouds will break in the sun. It is windy and gentle, with a high of 44.

SATURDAY: Look for a sunny day, but cold and chilly, with a maximum of only 35.

SUNDAY: A southerly turn in our wind direction brings back softer air to the region. Look for partly sunny skies and a maximum of 40 more comfortable.

MONDAY: The softer trend continues with a high of 43, but it is cloudy and we are likely to have some rain or snow, especially in the morning.
