Activision Blizzard has confirmed the sequel to the team-based shooter Overwatch will not arrive this year.
This announcement was made by the company’s chief financial officer and president of emerging companies, Dennis M. Durkin, during the fourth quarter earnings call.
“Our perspective does not include Devil IV or Overwatch 2 launch in 2021 “.
Overwatch 2 focuses on implementing more PvE content and history. Blizzard previously said that the original Overwatch players would have full access to the PvP content of the sequel.
“Current Overwatch players will fight side by side with Overwatch 2 players in multiplayer PvP; they will also be able to play Overwatch 2 heroes and maps.“
Overwatch 2 was originally confirmed for Nintendo Switch alongside several other platforms at BlizzCon 2019.
