Activity Awards Review: MacRumors

Activity Awards is a new site that offers physical representations of the digital fitness awards that Apple provides when Apple Watch owners meet their goals.

Available in the form of magnets, the Activity Awards are designed to look like the in-app prizes that can be obtained through the Fitness app. Each magnet is based on a different prize, with the Activity Awards site offering all sorts of options.

There are prizes for achieving goals such as 7-day moves, exercise, and stand requirements, along with prizes for special activity challenges, such as the badge Apple handed out in August for hiking, running, walking or exercise in a wheelchair for a mile or more.

The magnets are priced between $ 10.99 and $ 13.99, and some are available in full color or in “black out” mode, completely in black and silver.

The magnets are made in the style of enamel pins and are bright, colorful and well made. They feel high quality magnets and have a built-in magnetic backing to attach them to refrigerators or other magnetic surfaces.

The Activity Awards carry significant weight for them and the magnetic force matches what you would expect from a premium magnet (I glued two of them and it was almost impossible to separate them).

I noticed some slightly sharp edges in a couple of prizes, so I might not let the kids play with them, but it doesn’t matter too much on a magnetic surface. Some of the magnetic backs also look broken in half and I’m not sure what that means for longevity. I also broke two of the magnetic backs in half by stacking them on top of each other to take them from one room to another, so if you buy them, make sure you don’t.

All designs are about to be seen and can’t be confused with the Apple Watch Activity Awards shown in the Awards section of the Fitness app. You still can’t get all the awards Apple offers in magnet form, but I imagine Activity Awards is working on other options to include in the future.

Activity Awards is not affiliated with Apple and I don’t know what Apple thinks about Apple Watch’s fitness-inspired awards being available in a money-making format for someone other than Apple, but the site’s founder told me that the Activity Awards are not a 1: 1 match with the Apple Awards with changed font and pantone colors for production, plus the design is flat.

The company wants to make it clear that the pins don’t come from Apple and are designed to complement and complement the Apple Watch.

Every week, I read stories on the Internet of people who have been motivated to get in shape thanks to the Apple Watch, and working and keeping up with a routine can be very helpful. Having a physical representation of a visible workout success every day could be inspiring and remind you of what has been achieved.

I think the Activity Awards have the potential to be a good gift for someone who has worked hard to work with the Apple Watch, or even a gift for those who want to be reminded of what they can achieve. .

Some of the designs, such as the Yoga Award and the Parks Award, also have an objective look and have a neutral, pleasing design that Apple Watch owners could have in the fridge. The Activity Awards have some quality control issues that need to be addressed, so keep that in mind if you plan to buy them. Carefully treat the magnetic media so that they can break.
