Tom Selleck, famously starring in the “Magnum, PI” and “Blue Bloods” series, left a $ 2020 tip at an Italian restaurant in New York City, apparently emulating the hectic year ahead.
Actor Donnie Wahlberg, who plays Selleck’s son in the series NYPD “Blue Bloods”, shared the news on Twitter. The bill was $ 204.68.
“I found out my dad was on TV [Tom Selleck] has generously accepted the # 2020TipChallenge at (the restaurant) Elios on the Upper East Side! I love you Dad, ”Wahlberg wrote.“ I didn’t start it, but I’m proud to be a part of it. To those who gave even the smallest extra amount this year, THANK YOU. “
Wahlberg shared photos of the tip and a note Selleck left for his server. “For Elios, I’m honoring my friend Donnie Wahlberg’s ‘tip challenge’ with my sincere hope for a better 2020. Thank you all, ”says Selleck’s note, who in this series plays the role of NYC Police Commissioner.
Wahlberg told the magazine People that Selleck “never mentioned him,” and that they both “made three dinner scenes.” [Sangre Azul] since he did it, and he never told me. “
The “challenge” of leaving a $ 2,020 tip or other very generous amount seems to have originated a year ago in Alpena, Michigan, where waitress Danielle Franzoni received a tip for that sum from a client along with a note that said, “Happy New Year” and “2020 Tip Challenge,” according to Alpena News.
“Franzoni, 31, received the tip while working Sunday at the Thunder Bay River restaurant in Alpena. The credit card receipt said” Happy New Year. Tip Challenge 2020 https://t.co/Z92K3wuiVD pic.twitter.com/QArhfQmZwb
