Actress Lori Loughlin was released from federal prison in East Bay – NBC Bay Area

Actress Lori Loughlin was released on Monday from a federal prison in Dublin after serving a two-month sentence for her role in the college entrance scam scandal that federal investigators dubbed Operation Varsity Blues.

It was unclear what time Loughlin was released from prison, but a prison official confirmed to NBC Bay Area that she was released.

Loughlin turned himself in to federal authorities nearly three weeks earlier, in late October, after apologizing publicly for his role in a widespread scam scandal that caused several celebrities to pay large sums of money to bring in their children at elite universities with false pretensions.

Loughlin and her husband Mossimo Gianniulli allegedly paid $ 500,000 to get their two daughters into the University of Southern California under the guise of sports recruiting for the school’s crew team.

Gianniulli is still serving his five-month term in a federal prison in Lompoc, California.

The actress and her designer husband also paid heavy fines and have pledged to complete hundreds of hours of community service.

Loughlin was in the general prison population and had to take the COVID-19 test. Like other inmates at the facility, it was not restricted to visitors due to the pandemic.

The prison had a coronavirus outbreak that affected 185 of its 900 inmates, along with three prison employees.

Dublin Prison is the same facility where actress Felicity Huffman served 12 days in October 2019 for her part in the college admissions scandal.
