The Secretary of the Department of Health, Carlos Mellado López, signed this afternoon the administrative order that guarantees the exclusive vaccination process for the population of adults over 65 years or more, for the next four weeks.
According to the Order, the “shortage of vaccines deserves to be given priority in vaccination to protect the most vulnerable and essential personnel to deal with the emergency caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.” This group was established as the elderly because of their high level of risk.
“For the next 28 days, the first doses of vaccines distributed by the Department of Health to public and private bodies will be provided with exclusive priority to adults over 65 in all established vaccination centers, excluding centers dedicated to vaccinating staff of education system “, establishes the administrative order.
In addition, he stresses that the vaccination process will continue strictly through vaccination phases and appoints Health Inspectors to ensure compliance with it.
The Order also clarifies that the turn of the respondents will begin again when the turn of the older adults concludes.
Earlier the head of Health called on the general public to respect and wait their turn to be vaccinated, according to the current phase. Similarly, he stressed that any request for vaccination should be directed to the Department of Health who is the Agency leading the public health efforts.
