Adriano Espaillat meets with senators to address issues of the Dominican diaspora in NY

Congressman Adriano Espaillat (NY-13), and several senators from the Dominican Republic held a meeting where they discussed various issues, with the aim of contributing to the solutions of the main problems of the diaspora.

At the meeting, the senator for the province of Espaillat, Carlos Gómez, coordinated a visit to New York City, to evaluate the modification of some laws in favor of the Dominican community.

“We are inviting the living force of the Dominican community in New York to participate in this meeting; we want to hear the different issues and see how we through the Dominican Congress can create or amend some laws for the benefit of the Dominican community, I know the loneliness that Dominicans feel outside their country, because I lived it, “Gomez said in a press release.

While Adriano Espaillat, revealed that his management has directed a plan with the Dominican diaspora resident in the nation he represents, which aims to develop a series of demands to the Dominican government.

“I think the diaspora needs to organize their projects in a coherent and efficient way, which is why we have started the consultations; we would like to share these ideas with you. pharmaceutical companies that loosen patents, there are countries like the Dominican Republic, which can produce their own vaccine, ”he indicated.

The meeting also addressed issues of international cooperation, vaccine donation management in the Dominican Republic, a visit by senators from the standing committee of Dominicans living in the United States, in New York, to visit the Dominican diaspora.

The meeting was also attended by Senators Carlos Gómez (Espaillat), chairman of the standing committee of Dominicans living abroad; Dionis Sánchez (Pedernales); Faride Raful (National District); Franklin Romero (Duarte); Ramon Rogelio Genao Durán (La Vega); Ramón Pimentel (Mount Cristi); Lenin Valdez (Monte Plata); Milcíades Franjul (Peravia); Pedro Catrain (Samaná); Ricard de Sants (Sánchez Ramírez); and Eddy Nolasc (Valverde).
