Nintendo is known for surprises, but very few could have predicted this announcement. After three decades of Japanese exclusivity, Nintendo is finally launching Famicom Detective Club: The missing heir i Famicom Detective Club: The girl behind it To the west. As the names suggest, these were originally published in the Famicom, which is better known as the NES for Western audiences.
Confirmed by today’s Direct, Nintendo released this public relations statement shortly after:
Famicom Detective Club: The Missing Heir / Famicom Detective Club: The Girl Who Stands Behind: Two deep Nintendo clippings from Japan arrive in Europe for the first time, localized with English text and fully modernized for Nintendo Switch. Twists, twists and drama await every nook and cranny in both suspenseful games. Discover the deadly truth at Famicom Detective Club: The Missing Heir and Famicom Detective Club: The Girl Who Stands Behind, arriving at Nintendo eShop as a package on May 14th. Pre-orders for games now begin in the Nintendo eShop on the Nintendo Switch.
Both games are being remade by developers Mages, which was already announced in 2019. Faithfully recreating these original 8-bit adventures, the two will arrive on May 14 at Switch eShop, available separately or bundled together.
