After killing its entire mink population, Denmark will excavate millions to prevent pollution, the Danish parliament agreed on Sunday. Denmark, the world’s largest exporter of mink skin, slaughtered more than 15 million mammals in November after government officials reported they were carrying a mutated strain of the virus. Four million minks that were not incinerated will be unearthed in six months, after any chance of infection, as before they could not affect groundwater, according to Bloomberg News. Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen has been attacked by the decision to kill the mink, which was taken without parliamentary approval. Some of them literally came out of their graves last month, lifted by the release of decaying gas, according to the Guardian.
