The new Airstream Flying Cloud 30FB offers a literal corner office. Even in a 30-foot-long trailer, space is tight, so it’s not exactly ample work space. Converted from what was originally the space to sleep in the trailer, it has a desk and office chair that slide comfortably into a bleed on the desk. There are also plugins for internet connections and a mounting place for a computer monitor.
The large trailer still seats six people, including in the office, equipped with a pull-out bed.
“We know the job landscape will change forever for the pandemic,” said Bob Wheeler, CEO of Airstream. “This new offering reflects our commitment to being agile and responsive to the needs of current and future customers.”
This is the first time Airstream has offered a fully equipped workspace in a trailer directly from the company’s Jackson Center, Ohio factory, an Airstream spokesman said. The small desk has sliding drawers and a built-in Blu-Ray player. Heavy curtains can be stretched through the windows to control the lighting during video calls. Air storage areas have dry wipe surfaces on doors to jot down notes and reminders. The space also has USB and HDMI ports and of course power outlets.
In addition to some small beds, the Flying Cloud has a large bed, a bathroom, a separate shower, a kitchen and a small dining area. Airstream plans to add office space as an option to other trailer models in the future, a spokesman said.
