Alaska Gov. Mike Dunleavy is offering visitors a free COVID vaccine

Alaska will give tourism a slap in the arm.

The state will make free vaccines against COVID available to visitors arriving at key airports beginning June 1, Gov. Mike Dunleavy announced Friday, as part of the Republican’s effort to boost the besieged sector. tourist of the state.

“What we tell our tourists is that if you come to Alaska … you get a free vaccine, if you want one,” Dunleavy said. “You come in, you want a shot, you come to visit Alaska, they give you a shot. You don’t have to pay for it. We will have things at the airport and we will help you ”.

Vaccines will be available at Anchorage and Fairbanks International Airports and “we are in talks with a couple of other airports,” the governor said.

Alaska reportedly has a surplus of vaccines and made them available to all residents more than a month ago. The state reports a total of only 329 deaths from COVID since the outbreak began more than a year ago.
