During the Christmas and Christmas Eve festivities of the last three years, 2018 was dominated by alcohol poisoning with a total of 528, while in 2019 there were 12 deaths and in 2020 traffic accidents were large with an accumulated 107.
In addition, in 2018 and 2019 the death toll coincides with a cumulative 12 deaths in each year. In this 2020 at least 19 were registered.
Traffic accidents show an increase this year with a total of 107. However, in 2019 95 were reported and in 2018 there were 103.

In the first phase of the Christmas Operation “Commitment for Life 2020” a total of 19 fatalities were recorded during the operation due to 107 traffic accidents.

The provinces that reported the most cases of intoxication are Santo Domingo, Puerto Plata, San Pedro de Macorís, Santiago, San Cristóbal and La Vega.

A total of 12 people died last year of 95 traffic accidents which occurred in the country.
The accidents occurred on 53 streets and avenues and 42 on highways and roads, with 74 motorcycles involved, 14 cars, a heavy vehicle-six collisions.

That same year those treated for alcohol intoxication were at least 214 people including 19 minors.
