“Trump grew up hating socialism, Latinos, African Americans, Muslims, and almost everything he has in life except himself.” Thus begins a challenging letter that Alex Saab, the noted ironhead of Nicolas Maduro, wrote from his cell.
At a time when the Supreme Court of Cape Verde is defining Saab’s extradition, after it was approved by the Court of Appeals, the barranquillero comes out in defense of the Maduro regime and socialism: “So why does he hate us? Because if the poor progress, it can’t explode as much. His attitude is nothing more than basically the capitalist idea of exploiting the workers (…) “.

Saab, whom Venezuela proclaimed as Plenipotentiary Ambassador to Africa, in a failed attempt to give him immunity, adds: “Trump’s philosophy is that of the street skewer: he shouts loud enough about freedom of thought, but those who think differently from me will die.”

In the letter he takes the opportunity to insist on the conditions in which he remains in Cape Verde.

“Over the last seven months of illegal detention in Cape Verde, I’ve had plenty of time (but not much light) to catch up on my reading. I spend 22 hours a day without electricity and, apart from 20 minutes in the morning and another in the afternoon from Monday to Friday, which I am allowed to consult with my local lawyer, I am not allowed to talk to anyone.I am detained on conditions that the US Department of State itself “The United States has described how … they put their lives at risk,” says Saab, whom his defense now calls plenipotentiary ambassador.
The letter is known in the final stretch of the Saab extradition process, whom the United States considers the route to reach the gold and dollars that have left Venezuela illegally and the regime’s agreements with Iran, Turkey and Russia, which impact security on this side of the hemisphere.
