Cape Verde says that before March 11 the judicial fate of Alex Saab, the noted ringleader of Nicolas Maduro, will be defined. And the DEA plane is ready to fly with him to Miami, if the Supreme Court upholds the Court of Appeals ’decision to give him free passage to his extradition to the United States.
Publicly, his defense continues to file appeals to slow down the decision. But TIME to establish that other movements have also been made in private, anticipating a positive or adverse outcome.

Over the weekend, his lawyers in Cape Verde announced that they had filed a motion to suspend the extradition process, following a new hearing on his case before the Court of Justice on February 5. Justice of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).

For the defense of Saab, whom they call an ambassador in their statements, Cape Verde must wait for and abide by the decisions taken at ECOWAS on the alleged immunity it enjoys, the alleged illegality of its capture and the freedom they are demanding. But Cape Verde has already made it clear that it must not abide by ECOWAS decisions.

Family and negotiations

Nicolás Maduro has highlighted the importance of Saab for his dictatorship.
Indeed, the version states that Maduro would have made any negotiation subject to his alleged special envoy being released.

The information confirms what federal sources have pointed out: OS is a key piece in agreements between Venezuela, Turkey, Iran and Moscow that could impact U.S. interests.
