They have already filed a writ of opposition before the Supreme Court, they went again to the Court of Justice of West Africa (ECOWAS) to impose multimillion-dollar fines on Cape Verde for not giving him house arrest and they launched a media offensive to pressure his freedom.

48 hours ago, EL TEMPS revealed videos, with images of the Saab family, their lawyers and even their doctor, where they insist on the illegality of his capture and that he has stomach cancer which is not being attended to, in violation of international humanitarian standards.

In fact, Saab himself made it known that his extradition process is not in the final stage and call the information provided by federal sources a yellow card, assuring that there is a plane ready to be extradited.

In parallel, Nicolás Maduro sent him a new lifeguard, issuing a last-minute diplomatic appointment: he appointed Saab permanent and plenipotentiary ambassador to Africa, in an attempt to give him full immunity.

And although U.S. justice has dismissed the issue of immunity and has remained silent around these moves, it has not stood still.
Federal sources confirmed that, in the coming weeks, they will expand the Indictment in which they prosecute Nicolás Maduro’s alleged ringleader, including new names.

Alex Saab's corrupt network

The United States ties Alex Saab with a dozen companies.

The main charge is the laundering of assets for more than $ 350 million, linked to the scheme.

In addition to Saab, there mentions the Colombian Álvaro Pulido, his partner and noted accomplice. And an investigation by EL TEMPS revealed that the Barranquilla brothers Reinaldo and José Slebi are also involved in money movements that entered the US financial system.

The prosecution confiscated property in Cartagena and Barranquilla from businessman Alex Saab, who has been singled out internationally as the alleged ringleader of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro.

Nicolás Maduro appointed plenipotentiary ambassador in an attempt to grant him immunity. Federal sources say the measure has no retroactive effect.

Apart from them, the Prosecutor’s Office will include members of the Saab and Pulido environment who appear in open companies abroad (Hong Kong, Colombia, Panama, United Arab Emirates, for example) move large sums.

The list of those involved remains subject to reservation. But this newspaper established that there are relatives and circles close to Saab ya Pulido, including a barranquillero lawyer dedicated to structuring business.

The extension of the Indictment was planned from 2020.

Piedad Córdoba

Piedad Córdoba admits that she met Àlex Saab but is emphatic in that she did not introduce either Hugo Chávez or Nicolás Maduro.

That’s why sources in Miami rule out it being a reaction to Saab’s defense strategies, which included sending a letter to the Cape Verdean president.

This was signed (in September 2020) by members of the Peoples Human Rights Observatory. In addition to the former senator Piedad Córdoba, the other Colombian listed is Camilo González Posso, head of INDEPAZ.

González, for his part, explained that he did not know the process. But he said he signed the document, demanding respect for the due, based on information provided by former Spanish judge Baltasar Garzón, Álex Saab’s lawyer.
