All 254 Texas counties that were warned of winter storms when the Arctic explosion headed east

Oklahoma City – Much of the country is preparing for a major winter explosion and a cold that cools the bones. This weekend, Seattle experienced more snow in nearly half a century.

And on Sunday night, at least 168 million people receive winter weather alerts. Snow is expected from Texas to Maine. Ice is a major concern in the south and northeast. The midwest is already in a deep freeze: Arctic air is expected to drop to the Gulf Coast.

It has been snowing all day in Oklahoma City and although on Sunday evening the temperature was said to be 12 degrees, the cold felt like -15. This system is dangerous on all levels.

A massive snowstorm has left tens of thousands of people without electricity. Strong wind and heavy snow first headed to the Pacific Northwest.

“It’s been a little tough,” one resident said. “We don’t have gas. We’re all electric in our house, so heating the house has been the biggest problem.”

Conditions are just as bad in Washington, where a mass assembly closed the westbound lanes of I-90 on Saturday for hours, leaving drivers trapped in their cars.

Love and happiness on this Valentine’s Day, devastated by the same storm that crawls to the southeast during the night.

Snow fell for more than 12 hours straight in Oklahoma City, covering roads and hampering visibility.

Kate Collins was heading north, driving a large £ 80,000 platform.

“I know my biggest concern, I think on the road, is inexperienced drivers going very, very slowly down the highway,” Collins said. “Twenty-five, 30 miles per hour and then they deviate a lot because they don’t know where the lines are. It was probably the worst I’ve ever seen.”

But many heed the warning and stay home, making the most of this country of winter wonders.

For the first time in Texas, all 254 counties are subject to a winter storm warning. The temperature in Dallas is already colder than in Anchorage, Alaska.

Up to 400 record cold temperatures are possible nationwide during the middle of the week.

“Right now, we have two major weather systems coming together across the country, a very strong storm track here and some of the coldest air on earth, the polar vortex forcing that cold air into a very humid environment. and stormy, “CBS News meteorologist and climate expert Jeff Berardelli said. “That means heavy snow and incredibly dangerous ice all over the south.”

An unlikely and potentially messy mix on a day that is usually reserved for perfect pairings.
