The IRS said Tuesday that all economic impact checks on the December stimulus bill have been sent to Americans. According to the IRS, 147 million checks were sent to Americans, totaling $ 142 billion.
The IRS said some stimulus checks may still be in the mail, but the agency was required to do all checks before Jan. 15.
Some of the checks were sent by prepaid debit card last month.
Prepaid debit cards were sent to some of those whose bank information is not registered with the IRS. The IRS told those waiting for a paper check or debit card to closely monitor their mail.
If you have not received a stimulus check and think you may be eligible, you may be able to claim the “Recovery Bonus Credit” in a 2020 tax return The IRS said eligibility will be based on the 2020 tax information.
To claim a stimulus check using the recovery bonus credit, applicants will need to enter the amounts they received from the two previous incentive checks.
