Allegations of legal violation by Alanis Morissette in a new documentary

Alanis Morissette claims she was raped by several men when she was a 15-year-old Canadian pop star in a new documentary for HBO, the Washington Post reports. The legal age of consent in Canada is 16 years.

“It took me years in therapy to even admit that there had been any kind of victimization on my part,” the singer, now 47, says in the document. “I’d always say I was consenting, and then I’d remember ‘Hey, you were 15, you’re not consenting at 15.’

“Now I say to myself‘ Oh yeah, they’re all pedophiles. It’s all a legal violation, “he added.

Morissette did not reveal the identity of her alleged abusers.

“I told some people and it fell on deaf ears,” the singer also revealed. “It would usually be a stand-up time, out of the room.”

The alleged sexual assaults reportedly occurred in the late 1980s when he was recording demos for Geffen Records, several years before Maverick Records released his album “Jagged Little Pill”, which was released in 1995.

Despite collaborating with award-winning director Alison Klayman on “Jagged,” Morissette is “unhappy” with the final product and refuses to attend the documentary’s upcoming premiere at the Toronto Film Festival, according to the WaPo report.

Page six contacted Morissette representatives, but they did not respond immediately.

Redferns

The document will not be the first time Morissette talks about sexual assaults in the music industry.

In an interview with the Sunday Times in 2020, Morissette widely gave the intention that a #MeToo movement is likely to shake up the music industry in the coming years.

“Almost all women in the music industry have been assaulted, harassed and raped. It’s ubiquitous: more in music, even in film, “he said.
