The federal government will disburse 800 billion pesos in 2022 for the acquisition of vaccines, medicines, hiring medical staff and improving the entire health sector.
The Secretary of the Treasury, Rogelio Ramírez de O, has informed, delivering the draft Expenditure Budget of the Federation, that, for next year, spending on the Ministry of Health will have an increase in the ’27 .6 percent in real terms, compared to the previous year.
He added that, in addition, for the entire function of the health sector of the federal government, an increase of 15.1 percent will be observed.
In 2021, the budget for the entire health sector was more than 667 billion pesos.
“It is increasing in spending of the Ministry of Health by 27.6 percent in real terms, in addition, in the health function that groups the expenditure of the entire public sector in this matter will see a growth of 15.1 percent real with regard to the allocation of the 2021 budget, “he told lawmakers.
“800 billion pesos are being allocated to this function which includes the acquisition of vaccines and medicines, free health services, care for the delay in medical care and the increase in a staff of health workers for to address the pandemic “.
From the Legislative Palace of St. Lazarus, the federal official acknowledged all health personnel for their efforts to address the health crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
He added that the current government, headed by President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, has had a focus on addressing the most vulnerable sectors of the Mexican population.
The Ministry of Health is in charge of the areas of epidemiological surveillance, health care and free medicines for the population treated at INSABI and the budget of the National Institutes of Health and Highly Specialized Regional Hospitals, among which are the INER or the Institute of Nutrition that attend COVID-19.
It is worth mentioning that the Ministry of Health does not make purchases of vaccines, as this task is assigned to the Treasury.
