Amazon Fire tablets and Kindles are on sale right now

The best advantage about Amazon devices is the price. What they lack in power on the company’s tablets, they make up for being so cheap that it’s almost too good to be true, especially when they’re on sale like now. Kindles are a slightly different story. They are more expensive and are put up for sale less often, which makes them an even better deal.

The best time to buy any Amazon device is Prime Day, when they usually have about half the discount, but right now tablets and Kindle Fire have a 30% discount, which is a deal as good as you’ll find outside Prime Day. Don’t forget to read our guides to find the right Kindle and Fire tablet to find out which of these deals are best for you.

Kindle

The basic Kindle is still a solid e-book reader and the latest model includes a backlight for the 6-inch E-Ink touch screen, which means you can read in the dark. It’s our favorite Kindle for money. This is very close to the best price we’ve seen on the Kindle this year (it’s only $ 5 more than it was on Prime Day). Be sure to grab the three-month free Kindle Unlimited offer, which gives you access to a huge library of e-books. Once the three months are over, Kindle Unlimited will cost $ 10 a month, so set up a reminder to cancel it if you don’t want to keep it.

Paperwhite’s higher resolution screen and waterproofing make it an update worth considering. For not much more money than the simple Kindle, it unleashes the joys of reading in the pool, beach and bathtub without fear. The screen is flat and the device has the IPX8 rating, meaning it can stand in two meters of water for two hours. Read more about its features here.

The Kindle Kids edition is the basic Kindle at the top of this list with some parental controls and, most importantly, Amazon’s two-year worry-free warranty. The warranty means that if your Kindle Kids Edition is going to fall down the stairs because your child has decided to see if it would bounce like a slippery slope, Amazon will replace it. Not only is this worth it, but you also get a one-year subscription to Amazon Kids +, which will give you access to a wide range of children-friendly books. After one year, your subscription will automatically renew for $ 3 a month, so be sure to set a reminder if you don’t want to continue.

Fire tablet deals

Fire HD 10

Photography: Amazon

The latest version of Amazon’s Fire HD 10 arrived earlier this year with more RAM and a brighter screen, which was reaffirmed as a more capable tablet than the 8-inch version. It’s our favorite cheap tablet and the best Amazon tablet you can buy, with faster performance, more storage, and a 10-inch HD screen that looks much nicer. The Plus model with an extra gigabyte of RAM is also on sale for $ 130 ($ 50 off) and the new productivity package is $ 210 ($ 90 off). The package includes a keyboard, along with work-adapted software, that makes the Fire HD 10 a more capable device, as long as you don’t use Google’s office suite, which won’t work with Amazon hardware.

While the HD 10 is nicer, the Fire HD 8 is a tablet very capable of paying the price. The smaller form factor is easier to maintain. It is our preferred choice for traveling. The Plus model with additional RAM (3 gigabytes instead of 2) is the model we would go for and is on sale for $ 80 ($ 30 off).

The Fire HD 8 Kids Edition is our best choice for under 7s. It is small enough for younger hands and is padded so that it does not break when dropped. Like previous Kindle Kids, you’ll also get a two-year no-questions replacement plan and a one-year subscription to Amazon Kids +.

If you have older children (eight years or older), the Fire HD 10 Kids Pro Edition has a less bulky case and more application options. In the settings, there are still many parental controls.
