Amazon Prime Video finally lands on Sky.
Streamer has entered into a multi-year agreement with Sky, a pay-TV provider backed by Comcast, which will see the release of the Prime Video app across Europe across the set-top box service Sky Q and SVOT service Now TV. Ski markets include the UK, Ireland, Austria, Germany and Italy. Now TV and Sky Ticket apps will also be launched on Fire TV.
Sky already has major partnerships with both Netflix and Disney Plus, the latter deal struck in March. Integration is a playbook for the operator that now registers almost all major streaming services as part of its offering.
However, the Amazon deal is particularly important in the sports arena because UK customers can watch live Premier League matches on Sky Sports, Prime Video and BT Sport without changing devices. The timing of the deal, ahead of the Premier League’s Christmas matches, is sacred to Sky.

In the UK, Italy and Ireland, the Prime video app will be launched on Now TV and on Sky Ticket devices in Germany on December 14th.
The TV application will now be available in the UK, Italy, Ireland, Austria and Switzerland on December 14 to select Fire TV devices and Fire TV version smart TVs in early 2021. The TV version of Sky Tickets will also be available on Fire TV devices and Fire via the first part of 2021 on Smart TV in Germany.
