This agreement – which brings Prime Video to the Sky Q service – follows similar arrangements signed with Comcast’s Sky Netflix and Disney +
Amazon and Sky have become the latest streaming and pay TV betfellows, signing a major multi-year deal that will integrate Amazon content into the services of European companies owned by Comcast.
The partnership – effective December 14 – will place the Prime Video app on the Sky Premium service SkyQ with Disney + and Netflix in the UK, Ireland, Germany, Austria and Italy.
The Sky deal with Netflix went into effect in 2018. Prime Video Sky is available on Sky Ticket and Now TV devices, while – going in the opposite direction – now the TV streaming app is available on select Amazon Fire TV devices and the TV version available on fire is the first smart TV.
Amazon Agreement, Financial Terms Unpublished, is the latest in a series of content partnerships signed by Sky, which has recently released arrangements with Discovery +, DreamWorks Animation, Sony Pictures and Eon.
According to PPO analyst Paulo Pescador, such an agreement may have seemed “impossible” a few years ago, but “both companies now realize the importance of partnership in this rapidly changing world.”
