SAINT ANTHONY – San Antonio police have arrested an 18-year-old man in connection with a New Year’s Day attack clash in which a 31-year-old man and a 14-year-old girl were killed.
Officers from the Street Crimes Unit arrested Cèsar González around noon on Thursday at block 3400 West Laurel Street. He is facing two offenses of stopping and caring, with as many charges as possible, police said.
At around 12.30pm on Wednesday, a van was leaving an access road to block 3400 of Carrer de Poplar when González’s truck collided with the vehicle, officers reported.

Police said Gonzalez was driving between 100 and 120 mph before hitting the van.
Investigators said the 31-year-old died from the impact and the 14-year-old girl was kicked out of the van. On Thursday, during a vigil for the victims and their families, relatives identified the victims as Jesus Aguilar Jr. and Kristina.
“My mother called me at 12:15 and said, ‘Happy New Year.’ .
Aguilar’s other two children, a 5-year-old boy and a 1-year-old girl, were also in the minivan at the time of the accident. They suffered second-degree burns after the van burst into flames after the crash, officials said. A family member jumped into the vehicle to rescue them and took them to University Hospital, a witness said.
Lozano described Aguilar as a loving father of six children and Kristina as a happy, bright girl.
“He just put a smile on everyone’s face. She was a wonderful girl, “she said.

Police said they were able to find the suspect with the help of the community after receiving various tips. They are looking for other people to question the case.
According to online records, Gonzalez was out of custody for a DWI arrest in July 2020.
