An electronic appointment system for vaccination against COVID-19 begins on Monday

This Monday, January 25, has finally released the appointment system that had been announced would be implemented to expedite and facilitate the administration of vaccines against COVID-19 on the island.

This was anticipated today by the appointed Secretary of Health, Carlos Mellado, Who informed this newspaper for the first time of the scheduled date for starting this system.

“On Monday we will move forward with this,” he said, noting that the system will allow “the number of people to be vaccinated on a daily basis.”

As this newspaper had announced, it will be through the digital platform of turnospr.com that people who want to get vaccinated against the virus will be able to request an appointment to get immunized.

It is important to emphasize that the digital dating system will operate in compliance with the stages of vaccination against COVID-19 in Puerto Rico. Currently the process continues in phases 1-A and 1-B. Phase 1-A comprises health professionals and workers, older adults congregated in long-term care facilities, employees of these places and residents, and household staff for people with intellectual disabilities. Phase 1-B includes non-institutionalized adults over the age of 65, first responders (police, fire, and medical emergencies) and some essential workers, such as those in education.

According to Mellado, those interested in vaccinating will have to enter this system and request a shift.

“They will be notified of the day and time (which is up to them to be vaccinated) by email or text message,” he said.

He added that there are also people who have called different places and providers who are vaccinating to ask to be immunized.

“We’re going to (also) call people (listed on these lists) to turn them around. We need to debug these lists as well because (people) can’t be listed on six and seven lists (at once),” Mellado said. , who explained that the system of turnospr.com it will not allow duplicity or a person to pull out more than one appointment.

As reported, in the last week and a half staff using the turnospr.com platform has met with health workers, as well as support staff from the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and VOICES Vaccination Coalition, finalizing details for the start of this system.

The primary care physician commented that the agency will also soon announce a call center to care for and guide people interested in getting vaccinated. However, he anticipated that the number of COVID-19 vaccines arriving on the island would remain limited.

Late last year, General José Reyes, of the National Guard, had announced that they were preparing to launch an appointment system for the operation of regional virus vaccination centers. This system was coordinated with the Medical College. Yesterday Reis reported that the responsibility for raising this system was transferred to Health and was about to begin.

Dr. Iris Cardona, director of vaccination at COVID-19, had also anticipated “the recommendation to establish a kind of shift to speed up processes and make it fairer for people.”
