Tegucigalpa, Honduras
The president of the National Electoral Council, Ana Paola Hall, proposed this Sunday in the extraordinary session that each political party carry out its counting of votes in the primary elections of the next 14 March.
The minister raised that “I believe, I consider, it is my position, that political parties that are prepared and willing to make this count, must do so supported by the electoral body.”
“I remind you again that these are primary elections and that each party must have the discretion to choose the mechanism that in this sense is most viable and possible in this short time remaining,” he said during the broadcast in lives from the extraordinary session to which he had convened.
The lawyer assured that the CNE guarantees the primary elections on March 14. “We are prepared with the main electoral element that the process requires, ballots, suitcases …”, he said.
He also described as a good mechanism the counting of votes in the MER, certified acts in each municipality and in each departmental head, municipal acts, departmental acts based on the results of municipal acts because it ensures transparency in the process.
“It is a good mechanism to ensure that the results can be known progressively in an illustrative way and can then be confronted with the results of the final scrutiny of the electoral body based on the acts of the MER,” he said. .
Sala Ana Paola recalled that the CNE will perform live broadcasts of the vote count.
“I reiterate my commitment that these elections be held on the stipulated date.” The elections are on this date, as they say in my town, rain, thunder or lightning, on March 14 we will go to primary elections, “he said.
The special session did not address any issues of the agenda and the president of the CNE convened again for tomorrow Monday.
