Andrés Perea, Jesús Ferreira, Colombians debut selection United States vs Trinidad and Tobago | Colombians Abroad

The United States began its 2021 in an extraordinary way. Despite having only local contest (MLS) players, those led by Gregg Berhalter had no mercy on Trinidad and Tobago beating them 7-0 at Exploria Stadium in Orlando, Florida.

While the voluminous marker caught the attention of own and strangers, another aspect filled the Colombians with curiosity. Two compatriots made history with the American team.

Jesús Ferreira and Andrés Perea made their debut with the United States. The first was the starter and great figure of the game (two goals, three assists), while the second came in the 46th minute of play.

Ferreira was born in Santa Marta on December 24, 2000 and is the son of former member of the Colombia National Team David Ferreira. His career as a striker began at age 17 with the Dallas first division, in 2018 he played on loan to Tulsa Roughnecks FC second and a year back with the ‘Cowboys’.

In his first match with the national team he took the number nine, shone like no other, scored a double and gave three assists, meaning he participated directly in five of his team’s seven goals.

On the other hand, Perea, son of former footballer Nixon Perea, is 20 years old and has a very interesting career. Despite being born in Tampa (Florida), he made his professional debut with Atlético Nacional in 2017. His great performance led him to be called up for the youth teams of Colombia, thus competing in the 2017 South American Under-17 Championship. World Cup category in India and the 2019 U-20 World Cup in Poland.

In 2020 he managed to materialize his departure to Orlando City from the MLS, a team in which he has played 28 games, 11 of them as a starter. The previous one was worth to him to be summoned with the USA and just got to dispute 44 minutes in the friendly one against Trinidad and Tobago.
